A Toast to Forever
Crafting Custom Mead for Weddings & Handfasting’s
Vinland Meads Custom Mead for Wedding s and Handfastings
There’s something ancient and sacred about sharing a drink to seal a promise. In a world filled with fleeting trends and cookie-cutter celebrations, mead remains a timeless symbol of union, joy, and the sweetness of life shared.
At Vinland Meads, we offer couples the opportunity to commission a custom batch of mead—crafted just for their wedding or handfasting. But this isn’t just about pouring a drink. It’s about capturing the essence of your love in a bottle, shaped by season, honey, and time.
🍯 The Oldest Wedding Wine
Mead is often called the drink of lovers—and with good reason. Across cultures, from Norse longhouses to medieval churches, mead has been a part of wedding rituals for centuries.
In fact, the term “honeymoon” comes from an old custom: newlyweds were given enough mead to last a full moon cycle—one lunar month—in the belief that honey’s sweetness would bless their first days of marriage with joy, fertility, and peace.
It wasn’t about the drink alone. It was about the ritual of sharing, of lifting a horn or goblet together, and letting the richness of the land seal the bond between two souls.
✨ For Every Ceremony, Every Tradition
Whether you're planning a Christian wedding in a church, a pagan handfasting beneath an oak, or something beautifully your own, mead brings a symbolic unity to the table.
For the faithful, mead can represent the fruit of the earth and the work of human hands—a reminder of God’s abundance and covenant.
For the spiritual, it honors nature, the land, and the sacred ties between people and creation.
For the traditionalist, it echoes ancient customs from Highland clans to Norse hearths, where toasts were blessings and wine was poured in the name of legacy.
It isn’t about one culture—it’s about the shared human act of raising a drink in honor of love.
🛡 What We Offer
If you give us at least six months’ notice, we can work with you to:
Craft a unique mead recipe based on your tastes, the season, and your story
Get all necessary approvals through TTB and TABC, ensuring it’s legal to pour and label
Design a custom label—be it a family crest, wedding verse, or elegant minimalism
Help you find ceremonial mead horns, be they Celtic, Norse, or traditional drinking vessels
Provide licensed bartenders to serve your mead at your event, if needed
Every batch is fermented, bottled, wax-sealed, and labeled by hand—at Vinland Meads, with the same care and reverence we give all our meads.
🥂 The Toast That Seals It
We believe the mead toast is more than a photo-op. It’s a moment of connection. We can help you write or adapt a toast that reflects your vows—be it sacred, poetic, ancestral, or simple.
“As this mead is sweet, may your days together be filled with joy.
As it is strong, may your bond never break.
As it was made in the warmth of the hive, may your love always return to the hearth.”
🌸 Why It Matters
Weddings come and go, but the symbols we choose—the food, the wine, the rituals—stay with us. They become stories told around fires, shared with children, passed down like heirlooms.
Imagine opening a bottle of your wedding mead on your anniversary. Sharing it at the birth of a child. Pouring the last glass at your 10-year vow renewal. That’s not just a drink. That’s a legacy.
